The Bronze Age is back and it’s called Predator Heritage
2018 marks the 20th year of the Maison Memphis Belle, which for this remarkable achievement launches the model destined to leave an indelible mark of its presence in the panorama of military professional watchmaking.
Our heritage commemorates the first operational Watch model we made, called Predator; in this new limited edition version it is made of CuSn8 Marine bronze.
It is dedicated to the “Decima Flottiglia Mas” and bears on the dial the mythical skull with the Rose in its mouth.
The “Decima Flottiglia Mas” was born at the beginning of the Second World War as a secret Department of the Royal Navy for the use of new underwater and surface assault vehicles, developed difficult at the end of the 30s between 1941 and 1943 the few hundred men who were part of it, operated in high-risk missions, achieving even at a high price, successes such as to modify even the strategic naval structure of the Mediterranean.
The charm of bronze applied to the unparalleled attractiveness of military watches, is the surprising new trend in the luxury watch market. Material as ancient as the history of mankind, bronze is a metal alloy resistant to corrosion, which naturally develops a unique patina over time and is widely used in the construction of ships, to manufacture portholes, bells, metal seals and nautical instruments.
Until recently it had never been directly linked to the industry of the time.
Difficult to work, having on your wrist this beautiful and changeable alloy formed by copper and tin, or aluminum, nickel or beryllium, which can have different colors, is a refinement for connoisseurs.
The use of bronze enhances the nautical look of the watch and the different shades of color that are created according to the conditions of use, make each specimen a unique piece. Memphis Belle in its Predator Heritage wanted to further raise the bar, giving the customer the opportunity to choose three grades of finish of the case:
1: new satin case, which ages naturally as a result of use.
2: case with vintage patina, which has the effect of five years of use with first degrees of oxidation.
3: case with super vintage patina, which has the effect of fifty years of use with a widespread blue oxidation of bronze.
A process completely studied and handmade inside the maison.
